So. You’re locked in a friend’s bathroom, using the loo. You have a few minutes of privacy and no prying eyes upon you. Be honest: Do you crack open their drawers or their medicine cabinet and see what they’re working with?
Okay, you don’t have to answer that. I’m not saying you should peek into people’s private spaces, but I am saying that I know you kinda sorta want to. And I am so not judging you. And if you’re ever at my house, peep away. Just don’t take anything.
It was that no-holds-barred, show-me-everything-you’ve-got philosophy that got me following the awesome beauty blog Into the Gloss a while back. Their Top Shelf features famous and regular ladies like us who showcase all of their beauty stashes in all of their glory.
So when ITG founder Emily Weiss founded her own skin care and makeup line, Glossier, (catch phrase, “Skin First, Makeup Second,” which I lovelovelove), of course I had to check it out.
A little over a year ago, I bought their Priming Moisturizer a little over a year ago and really loved it, so I thought I would try out the heavier version of the formulation for the colder months.
Check out my thoughts and shots below!
What I Got
It comes in a cool bubble-wrap makeup bag that feels just as cool as you think it would, and is also the perfect size to use for travel.
What I Think
The first word that comes to mind with the Milky Jelly Cleanser is “gentle,” which is great if your skin is sensitive or needs a little extra TLC during the winter months. The cleanser will remove all of your face makeup and most of your eye makeup, but it’s still not quite as thorough as an oil cleanse, in my opinion. But the formulation is very thick and hydrating, and there is no irritating fragrance. Major bonus in my opinion.
The cream is rich and luxurious and really does lock in moisture. I use it at night either on its own or layered with a facial oil for an extra boost of hydration. I love that it is a no-frills, all-business formulation. This is something that just works. And the price is so reasonable considering what a great job it does of moisturizing.
The best way to describe the Generation G lipstick is that it’s a hybrid between a balm and stain. The color payoff is moderate; you won’t get lipstick-style creaminess and coverage. But what you do get is a beautiful, natural-looking wash of color that really sticks around.
I chose the shade Jam because I love the look of a berry lip for winter. Here are the rest of the colors–all gorgeous! This is something you could put on in the morning, and would last through your morning coffee and easily for a couple hours afterward. I really, really like this lipstick.
A great way to try out their line is to check out their Phase 1 Set. You’ll get the cleanser, Priming Moisturizer (a lighter take on the cream that also works as a makeup primer; love this one too!) and their legendary Balm Dot Com lip gloss. They also offer free shipping on orders over $30, which you can easily hit with the purchase of just a couple products.
