Here’s something I didn’t want to ever admit publicly (yet here I go)…

…I spent $99 on a water-like substance to splash on my skin.

(This is the part where I wait for you to judge me. Done? Okay. Moving on!)

While the price tag is a little (a LOT) steep, the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence is seriously worth every penny. Since the change of seasons, I’ve worked this back into my routine to get a little extra brightness for my skin. The “micacle” ingredient Pitera is derived from rice, and supposedly it was discovered when some entrepreneurial spirit noticed the incredibly youthful-looking hands of sake brewers and thought, “Hmm, how can I get tons of people to cough up serious cash to have awesome looking skin like that?”

Okay, so it probably didn’t go like that per se, but all I’m saying is that cat was a genius, and obviously found an ingredient that works.

Truth be told, my skin all sorts of loves this stuff. I use it after cleansing and toning (sometimes even in the place of my toner), and I noticed results literally the day after I used it. I highly recommend this one! (I also did a post a while back on what essences are, and why you might want to add them into your skin care routine. Check it out here!)

It’s just one new product I’ve added into my skin care routine now that fall is here, and here are the rest:

Shortlist Hydrating Serum

This is a great way to add a punch of moisture to your routine. I have fallen in love with this one! And, since it’s free of fragrance and any other potentially irritating or dangerous ingredients, this has found a place in my routine! It honestly hydrates so well; I’m impressed!

Beautycounter Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion

You all know my love affair with Beautycounter (it’s why I became a consultant, so I can have the 25% discount, ha!), and this newest addition to their skin care line is stellar. Using adaptive technology that can detect the level of moisture your skin needs, this lotion gives the perfect dose of hydration every time.

And it is free of all those known nasty ingredients, it’s also incredibly safe to use for everyone–especially pregnant and nursing mamas.

Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Facial Oil

My love affair with Drunk Elephant products is well-documented here on this blog, and this product has shifted back into my skin care lineup now that cooler temperatures are upon us. I layer this on either under my moisturizer to lock it in, or as the final step in the process, after moisturizer. Either way, expect a serious dose of moisture!

Beautycounter Dew Skin Moisturizing Coverage

Let’s start with what this product is not–a full-coverage foundation. But what it is? It’s exactly the kind of product I’m loving right now for low-maintenance days spent running after three tiny tyrants. (I kid I kid; I adore those little jackals.)

So I’ve found myself reaching for this product almost every day that I want a natural looking finish, without looking too “done.” (I wear shade #2.)

(And also: I have a post coming soon on an awesome new eye serum that is sooo good, guys; check back next week for that!)

‘Til next time, friends!

P.S. I put weird lights on my face, and I also love a good dry brush. Here’s why.
