What’s an Essence, and Why Do You Need One?

Flying in the face of all the simplifying I’ve been doing to not only my beauty routine, but also every other aspect of my life these days, there is one spot where I’ve added something extra.

And I’ve gotta say, I kinda love it.

Have you ever tried an essence?

Not a toner, not a serum, bot a moisturizer, but somehow it manages to do a little bit of what all those do.

Here are the experts from Into the Gloss to explain.

It’s not a toner but it feels like one, and you use it right around the same place in your skincare routine.

It doesn’t clean your skin, but it does make it softer and brighter.

And it’s not a serum, but it manages to deliver good-for-your-skin ingredients that somehow make a difference within days. I’m talking a noticeable improvement in brightness and tone.

Let’s just make it simple and call it Magic Water.

I’ve tried multiple types of essences over the years and with all of them, I noticed my skin looking brighter and feeling softer within days. They also take away that tight feeling your skin may have after cleansing, while replenishing it with some beneficial ingredients that can keep it healthier over time.

So without further adieu, here are some essences I’ve used over the years—at every price point—and I have liked them all! Your pick:

Estee Lauder Skin Micro Essence

SKII Facial Treatment Essence

Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence

Primera Miracle Seed Essence
