This is the Next Beauty Trend to Hop On (and It’s Good for You Too!)

The hunt for an effective and pleasant-to-use natural deodorant is kind of like the hunt for a good guy.

You’re browsing the aisle (apps), checking out the formulas (faces) in front of you, and you pause on one bottle (guy), take a deep breath and say to yourself, “Self! This is the one! I can just feel it!! My long and grueling search has led to this. Look how well it’s (both deodorant and man) packaged! Look at all these things it’s (he’s) promising me! I’LL TAKE (Swipe Right on) IT (him)!”

Then you know what happens next, guys. You take it home (go on a date), it fails miserably, and you stink like a mother for the rest of the day. That last part pertains to the deodorant only, but you catch my drift.

So not only do you chalk the deodorant (date) up to a big fat Failure, but you also end up kind of miserable in the process. (Being stinky will do that to a person.)

Even though I’ve been off the market for a while when it comes to guys (hi, honey), I have been hitting the streets hard trying to find a natural deodorant that actually works. And you know what? I am here to tell you that the Promised Land exists, because sister friend, I HAVE FOUND IT.

And not only does this new find of mine work, but it also contains an important mineral that up to 80% of the population is currently lacking whose addition into your routine might also help address some other health issues you might be experiencing.

So pretty much what I’m trying to say here is that I’ve found the Brad Pitt of natural deodorants. Except without that whole Angelina-cheating-scandal-and-alcohol-fueled-midair-family-fight BS.

So pretty much what I’m trying to say here is that I’ve found the Brad Pitt of natural deodorants.

nfuse deodorant is a born-and-bred family brand. Conceived, developed and launched by Ann Ahl and her sister Emily, the duo has filled a niche in the market that has been largely ignored by other natural products–it not only serves its labeled purpose (keeping you stink-free!), but it also helps your body by giving you a much-needed mineral that some studies claim up to 80% of the population is lacking.

Leave it to women to launch the ultimate multitasking product. 😉

I discovered nfuse in the bathroom of my barre3 studio. Immediately my interest was piqued, and when I used the product over the course of the next month, I’m happy to report that not only does it work, but it is also super pleasant to put on and feels cool upon application–without stinging the sensitive underarm area. And when I use it, I feel good knowing that in addition to smelling good, I’m also doing something good for my health every time I swipe some on.

Magnesium is one of the main ingredients in nfuse. Some doctors suggest adding a magnesium supplement into your daily routine, claiming a host of benefits, some of which include helping to calm nerves; boost energy; aid in digestion; prevent migraines and even help with insomnia.

I’ve been using the unscented version, and it has such a fresh, tingly feel upon application. I love it! It also does manage to keep the stink at bay throughout the day. Even better? It doesn’t do that weird thing that natural deodorants tend to do when you apply, which is get all soupy and nasty after you put it on. (Haha. Sorry for the gross description! But if you’ve used other natural deodorants then you know this can be the case!)

And you all know that the journalist in me looooves to hear the story behind all of my favorite products, so of course I reached out to one of the founders, Ann Ahl, so she could tell us what makes nfuse so special.

Read on to find out more about this awesome product that is Sonni-approved©, and what’s next for this growing brand!

Why did you and your sister start your brand?

Family plays a big role in the story of nfuse deodorant. Emily and I, sisters and nfuse co-founders, knew that we wanted to create products to deliver the healthy benefits of magnesium after a long, wine-filled lunch on a family vacation. My husband, who has worked with magnesium his whole career, was talking about the many powerful health benefits of this relatively unknown mineral and we were intrigued.

At home, we started a deep dive into all things magnesium. We took magnesium supplements and started to feel better than we had in a long time, but oral supplements had downsides. We knew there had to be a better way to deliver the health benefits of magnesium.

It was another family vacation to Ecuador that provided the light bulb moment. There, we learned that many in South America use milk of magnesia is used as a deodorant and that was it, we were off to the races. Once home, we started experimenting in Emily’s kitchen with a proprietary, concentrated blend of magnesium combined with safe, natural ingredients.

With a family history of breast cancer (our mother and grandmother) and as mothers to teenage kids at home, it was critical to us that nfuse be not only completely safe, but also actually good for you. We wanted to make sure that nfuse deodorant was delivering as much magnesium as possible so we worked with a natural formulations chemist who specializes in transdermal drug delivery.  He added innovative naturally derived ingredients that further enhanced the absorption of magnesium through the skin. The final result: a deodorant that is unlike any other. A patent-pending magnesium-rich natural deodorant that really works and helps fuels the body with an essential mineral that is critical to active busy lives that we try to live.

What benefits can we expect to see from incorporating magnesium into our lives? What’s so special about it?

Magnesium affects how every part of your body functions – it works with over 300 enzyme systems to catalyze biochemical reactions. It is essential for overall health and has a multitude of health benefits from improved bone and heart health to lower stress and anxiety.

Boost Energy:
Magnesium is essential to the production and regulation of energy throughout the body: it produces, stores and transports energy. Studies have shown that magnesium elevates energy levels and enables athletes to train longer and harder.

Improves sleep:
Magnesium plays an important role in each and every stage of sleep: It relaxes muscles, calms nerves, stimulates melatonin synthesis and regulates key hormones for a deep restful sleep.

Magnesium helps to protect the body from harmful toxins and the brain from the deposit of heavy metals.

Aids in Heart Health:
Magnesium helps to protect the heart but supporting and maintaining normal blood pressure and heart beat.

Fosters Healthy Brain Activity:
Magnesium is essential for maintaining healthy brain activity. It helps transmit and receive nerve signals and regulates over-excitability of nerves.

Maintains Optimal Muscle Performance:
Magnesium works in concert with calcium and regulates muscle contraction and relaxation.

Reduces Stress:
Magnesium regulates and controls the release of stress hormones. Magnesium plays multiple roles in the regulation of stress. It can suppress the release of stress hormones. Magnesium can act at the blood brain barrier to prevent the entrance of stress hormones into the brain.

Despite its importance to the body, most of us do not get enough magnesium through our diets and it is further depleted by stress and sweat. The good news? Magnesium can be delivered through the skin, especially the delicate and permeable underarm skin. The underarms are one of the most permeable parts of the body due to the concentrated area of sweat glands, heat, moisture and hair follicles.

Also, a key factor in magnesium absorption is the length of time the application is left on the skin, the frequency of application, and the increased temperature of the area of application. With just two to three swipes a day on each underarm, nfuse deodorant utilizes innovative magnesium permeation technology to optimize magnesium delivery to the body and deliver a healthy chunk of the recommended daily intake of magnesium.

What kind of feedback have you gotten from people who’ve started using nfuse?

Customers are loving nfuse deodorant! … Many have commented that nfuse has changed how they feel about deodorant. Instead of a chore, nfuse customers actually now look forward to using this affordable luxury that incorporates good health into their daily routine.

In turn, customers are sharing nfuse with friends and family and through word of mouth. nfuse has quickly grown from a small table at the Nantucket Yoga Festival at the launch in July 2016 to over 120 boutique fitness studios like barre3 and Yogaworks, curated natural beauty shops like Follain and Ayla, Whole Foods and other natural markets, and independent gyms and pharmacies.

Any plans for new products in the future?

Yes! We are really excited about what’s coming next. Keep your eyes peeled for nfuse body and skin care products loaded with the healthy benefits of magnesium.

Also, it looks like magnesium infused bath and beauty products will become a trend this year. It’s great to see a growing awareness of the benefits of transdermal magnesium. However, the challenge is that some brands and products are getting on the magnesium bandwagon (or already have) by adding a small amount of magnesium to their formulas (near the bottom of the ingredient list) and marketing themselves as a magnesium rich product.  It is important for consumers to look carefully at the labels to decipher how much magnesium and what type is included in their products. Truly innovative and patent-pending, nfuse deodorant delivers 290 milligrams of magnesium (as magnesium hydroxide and magnesium chloride) with every use.  There is no other deodorant that comes close.

So, what do you think? Have you tried a magnesium supplement? What do you think of a beauty product that’s infused with it? Let me know your thoughts in Comments below!
