Super Smoothie for Kids (and Parents too)

Sometimes kids don’t like eating vegetables, or anything else good for them, for that matter. That’s when we find creative ways to sneak them into other things they like. And that was the genesis of this smoothie.

It’s my totally made-up creation that has now officially worked for us for three years and through two kids. I present to you, the berry/banana/spinach/whole lotta other good stuff smoothie*. (I’m working on the name.)


1 banana

5 oz. frozen organic mixed berries (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries)

2 cups 2% Fage plain Greek yogurt

2 cups unflavored kefir

1 heaping handful of organic spinach

1 tablespoon organic raw honey

Depending on how thick/thin you like your smoothies, you may want to add a cup of milk (give or take) in there to thin out the mixture.

Missing from picture–the banana, because someone wanted it for breakfast.


Put in a blender and liquefy. I start with the frozen berries, banana and kefir, then add the spinach and yogurt (and milk), then end with the honey.

Pour, enjoy, and, voila! You got them to eat spinach, kefir (brimming with probiotics), raw honey and some organic berries.
